"SENNA, LEAVES "The power of Russian herbs"
COMPOSITION:
senna leaf
Useful properties of senna (Alexandrian leaf, or narrow-leaved Cassia) have been known to people since antiquity. Healing wild tropical plants with lanceolate leaves and bright yellow flowers can be found in India, Asia and Arabia. In Russia, for pharmacological purposes, senna is grown in specially designated areas, away from busy highways and large industrial plants.
Decoction and infusion of leaves and herbs of this shrub is used as an effective laxative agent. The laxative effect caused by taking the drug, normalizes the bowels and helps to cope with constipation.
Medicinal herb has a mild and delicate laxative effect (in this regard, the use of drugs containing leaf senna in its composition is permitted in pediatrics). The main indications for senna are chronic atonic constipation, anal fissures and hemorrhoidal formations. Another distinctive feature of senna preparations is that they do not cause cramping pain in the umbilical region.
Positive dynamics after the use of drugs, which include senna, is usually observed after 6 – 8 hours (based on this property, the use of senna is recommended in the evening, namely before bedtime). On the second or third day of taking the medicinal plant, a thorough laxative effect sets in, after which the defecation can be adjusted in a natural way and in some cases the medication can be stopped altogether.
Diseases of the liver and gallbladder. Grass helps cleanse the body of toxins and slags, normalizes the liver and gall bladder. In small doses, it improves the digestive process, but in large doses it acts as a laxative.
Senna grass for weight loss. Due to its laxative effect, the drug acts as a cleansing agent that removes not only toxins and slags, but also excess fluid in the body. Grass speeds up the metabolism, normalizes appetite.
In pregnancy. There is no unambiguous information on this issue. Some sources say that the grass is prescribed to women in labor for bowel emptying on the eve of childbirth. In others, it is mentioned that with frequent constipation in pregnant women, senna can relieve the condition. What harm can this grass cause the future mother's body? First, severe bowel spasms are possible, which can cause uterine contractions and miscarriage in the early stages. Secondly, there is a risk of dehydration while taking senna, which is also harmful during pregnancy. Therefore, the question of taking the herb must be addressed individually with a gynecologist. Also during lactation, laxative can be taken only after consulting a doctor.
Cosmetology and skin diseases. Much less often the grass is used to care for the skin of the face and hair. It well softens the skin and hair, protects from exposure to sunlight. For example, in Chinese medicine it is used for inflammation of the eyes, purulent lesions of the skin, the causative agents of which are streptococci and staphylococci. In Arabian medicine, it was used to purify the blood in skin diseases.
In some herbalists there is information that senna is an opholithic that helps with oligomenorrhea - a violation of the menstrual cycle with a long delay of menstruation. It is also recommended for heart disease, back pain and joint pain.
